A New Arrival Baby Card

Ok, I can't send the gift without a card.  So I sat down yesterday and made this card using the New Arrival Cricut Cartridge.

Since I've been out of work for a bit, I've been keeping myself occupied doing charity work.  One of the charity groups that I work with is the Helping Hands group at my local Michael's craft store.  It started out as the Warm Up America group and also a weekly Crochet/Knit group.  Then Michael's corporation cut out the classes that they used to sponsor, and everything sort of fell apart.  The 2 instructors wanted a way to still continue with the charity group, and the store agreed to let them hold the weekly charity sessions.  One is on Monday evenings and the other is on Thursday mornings.  I've been going to the Thursday session and meeting all sorts of wonderful ladies.  Their creations are outstanding. 

I've been donating hats for the homeless and baby booties and blankets and anything else that I've had time to crochet.

This year, I've had a few friends to become pregnant or in other cases, some friends daughters.  So I've been crocheting baby layettes.

This is one that I just finished yesterday and need to get in the mail to a friend who is having her second baby.  I hope she likes it.   Its a 5 piece set consisting of the blanket, dress, jacket, booties and bonnet.

Tri-Fold Shutter Card

Today, I had to go across town to the other LSS to pick up some Hero Art Acrylic stamps that they ordered for me.  I had gotten 2 calls and still hadn't gotten around to driving over there.  So today, I made the trek.  While I was there, I found there was going to be a 1 hr card making class.  I inquired and found there was a space, so I stayed.

Todays lesson was on the Tri-fold shutter card.  I've made quite a few of these, but wanted to take the class anyway.  I didn't have all the supplies I would have loved to fancy it up, but I did the best with what I had available.  I think it turned out ok, but need to do some touch-ups to it.

All the parts were pre-cut for us and I believe the instructor used the cricut for the flower and the top-note saying (which was layered).  She had used the Swiss dot cuttlebug folder on one of the flowers, so to make it uniform, I cuttlebugged one of the layers of the sentiment top note layers.  What was funny was, no one had thought of doing this til I asked to do it and everyone wanted to jump on that bandwagon.   I had my brads with me and pulled one out to use as the center for the flower.   I pop-dotted the flower off of the card along with the sentiment.  The other ladies there thought that was a good idea and chose to do the same. 

Found the class handout.  The paper used was Bazzill Glaze Pink Dot.   The 6-petal flowers were cut from Plantin Schoolbook.  The rectangles for the sentiments were cut from Accent Essentials.

For My Friend Card using MS Floral Vine Border Punch

I'm on a card kick right now and am attempting to hone up my card stash so that I can find a card quickly when I need to get one out in a hurry.  I've been looking at different blogs for inspiration.  I can't remember where I found one that was similar in design to this one... but whoever it was... thanks for the inspiration.  If anyone sees this and knows who it is... please let me know so I can give them credit.

Trying to get a jump on making my Easter Cards, I was looking for some inspiration.  I saw a card that triggered my imagination.  Then I thought of this Easter Bunny cartoon from long time ago and knew I couldn't sleep until I'd created it.

Easel Cards

Something for a Friend using "Pink Journey" Cartridge

One of my dear friends and bowling partner was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year.  She has just finished with her last chemo treatment (and it was rough on her).  I wanted to make her a little gift and found these shadow boxes at the Dollar Tree.
I painted it with silver making memories paint and embellished it.  I have one last thing to do is to take her picture to place in the center.  I hope she likes my gift to her.

A Valentine Day Swap

I joined a Valentine's Day Swap with some friends on the Cricut Messageboard.  The idea was to decorate a paint can for another member and fill it with goodies.  Names were submitted and then paired up.  A questionaire was sent out for you to send to the person selected to create a Valentine Paint can for you.
